About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Real Madrid secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Levante in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 17 January 2026. The match, held at the Santiago Bernabéu, saw Real Madrid dominate proceedings, with goals from Kylian Mbappé (GAP +7.3%) and Raúl Asencio (GAP +2.2%) sealing the win. This result was largely expected given Real Madrid's superior form and squad depth. The game remained goalless in the first half, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. However, Real Madrid's persistence paid off in the second half. Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Just seven minutes later, Raúl Asencio doubled the lead, effectively putting the game beyond Levante's reach. Real Madrid's lineup featured several key players, including Thibaut Courtois (GAP +6.4%) and Vinícius Júnior (GAP +4.0%), who contributed significantly to their team's performance. The home side made four substitutions, bringing on Arda Güler, Daniel Ceballos, David Alaba, and Franco Mastantuono to maintain their dominance and manage the game effectively. Levante, on the other hand, struggled to impose themselves, with Jeremy Toljan (GAP -0.2%) and Manu Sánchez (GAP -1.6%) unable to contain Real Madrid's attacking threats. Despite making five substitutions, including Ugo Raghouber and Jon Ander Olasagasti, Levante could not find a way back into the match. This victory keeps Real Madrid in a strong position in the La Liga standings, bolstering their title ambitions. For Levante, the defeat highlights the challenges they face in competing against the league's top teams. As the season progresses, both teams will look to build on their performances, with Real Madrid aiming to maintain their momentum and Levante seeking to improve their form.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
